Prep #1

GM Prep is where my ideas about how roleplay works get turned into something I can use in game.

Introduction

The laws of physics have a social structure, and the Earth is at the bottom. Here, most people spend their lives dealing with only the dull physics, like gravity, thermodynamics and backache. But, due to the Midlands existing in quantum superposition, you get a break. Where you live, the barriers between realities get thinner, thin enough to Blast through to worlds with the sick physics, like lasers and teleporting and robots. Worlds where teens like you, by solving the local Problems and posting the proof of it on Panopticon, can achieve the most important thing in the world: making other teens think you’re cool.

Spotlight Questions

What is your character’s name? What are your character’s relationships to the other characters? You have woken up early to practice your Blasting ahead of your crew’s first run. What is your morning routine?

THE CHASM. An enormous scar across the landscape. Nothing grows inside. Get across it. TRACK: BIGGAP. PRIZE: 3 style

Physicalities

It’s January. The tips of your nose and fingers ache in the cold. Your coat hangs heavy across your shoulders, thick or puffy material making your movements clumsy and unsubtle. Your breath makes ghosts in the air. The ground is hard as wood.

The skatepark in woods got contaminated by the nearby multiverse, and is now of indeterminate depth. It is always either shallower, or deeper, than it looks.

You step through the portal and into a jungle. It feels like stepping out of the shower and into a greenhouse. You are immediately coated in sweat. Your nose fills with the scent of leaves and warm wet earth. The air is so thick with moisture that breathing feels like swallowing. Light falls in fragments through the thick canopy. Creatures you cannot see SCREECH [foley] warnings of your incursion.
